One of our favourite films from this 2016’s London Film Festival was Liam Gavin’s A Dark Song, which was a complex, gripping and imaginative supernatural horror packed full of scares and a thoughtful commentary on grief and the occult. You can check out our 4-star review here.
Reports from AFM have confirmed that the film has been picked up by Kaleidoscope to distribute A Dark Song worldwide, except for in North America where IFC Midnight will be releasing the film. No release date has been given yet, but we’re hoping it’s sooner rather than later as this is one of the greatest horror films of 2016.
Synopsis:
A determined young woman hires a damaged occultist to conduct a magical ritual. The two prepare in a remote house over the course of six months, aware that any flaw in their preparations will result in deadly consequences. Risking their lives and souls, they enter the dangerous, unknown world of dark magic in the hopes it will grant them the one thing they want above all else.
A Dark Song stars Steve Oram and Catherine Walker. Check out the atmospheric and visually impressive trailer here.
