Martin Freeman has joined the cast of ‘Cargo’ a zombie thriller that is based on the short film directed by Ben Howling and Yolanda Ramke. The short film follows a man stuck in the middle of a zombie pandemic with a young baby. He’s infected himself, so he ventures into the wilderness to find safety for his child.
It’s an extremely powerful and a great example of minimalist filmmaking. A million words are spoken with the slightest action and the choice of music is wonderful. It’s a stunning short that is quite gruesome and very thought-provoking as it thrusts the audience in to a refreshing and hard-hitting scenario. Check it out below.
Cargo was a finalist in the Tropfest Short Film Festival in 2013, but lost out to We’ve All Been There; a touching tale about a group of strangers whose lives become interconnected in a surprising way.
The Cargo feature film is set to be produced by Kristina Ceyton (The Babadook) and when she spoke about Martin Freeman’s addition she said, “Martin Freeman is a singular talent who will add such depth and emotional sophistication to the role, and we know will make this story come alive in an unexpected and deeply moving way.“
With such an excellent short film as its source material and the addition of the marvellous Martin Freeman, we’re expecting great things from Cargo.
