It seems there’s no stopping Weapons.
Just a week ago, we reported that the best reviewed horror movie of the year had crossed the coveted $100 million mark worldwide.
Well, in a week, Weapons has doubled that momentous total… Yes, that’s right. As of August 25th, Weapons has grossed over $200 million at the worldwide box-office.
Given that the film still has time in theatres, the final total will likely be much higher. However, crossing $200 million makes Weapons a blockbuster, especially in the horror genre.
The sizeable gross puts Weapons alongside Sinners and Final Destination: Bloodlines as the most successful genre releases of 2025. Sinners tops the list with over $300 million worldwide, whilst Bloodlines fell just shy of that milestone in second, and Weapons lands in third.
However, Weapons may continue to hold strong at the box-office, meaning the financial rewards will keep coming.
Cregger’s film has already scared off Disney’s Freakier Friday, with its $115 million gross paling in comparison.
The future looks bright for Weapons, and for its creator Zach Cregger.
The filmmaker is currently working on his highly anticipated Resident Evil reboot. However, he remains hesitant about a Weapons sequel or prequel, something Warner Bros. are eager to pursue.
So, we’ll keep a lookout for any updates on an expansion. Undoubtedly, Cregger could be swayed, if the price is right.
