Focus Features has set a release date for You Won’t Be Alone, a supernatural horror-thriller starring Noomi Rapace (Lamb), pictured above. The film will release in theatres on January 28th, 2022.
Anamaria Marinca (The Girl with All the Gifts), Alice Englert (Ratched), Carloto Cotta (Tabu), Félix Maritaud (Knife + Heart), and Sara Klimoska (Black Sun) star alongside Rapace. The movie is set in an isolated mountain village in 19th-century Macedonia and follows a young girl who is kidnapped and transformed into a witch by an ancient spirit. After accidentally killing a peasant in the nearby village, the young witch takes the victim’s shape to live life in her skin. Her curiosity ignited, she continues to wield this horrific power in order to understand what it means to be human.
You Won’t Be Alone marks the feature debut of Australian-Macedonian writer-director Goran Stolevski. Deadline notes that the witch “will be played by different actors and the film will include an old Macedonian dialect.”
