Willem Dafoe may be re-teaming with The Lighthouse and The Northman director Robert Eggers! Dafoe is in talks to join Eggers’ Nosferatu film, which is set up over at Focus Features.
This would be Dafoe’s second time starring in a Nosferatu movie. The actor previously earned an Oscar nominator for his role in E. Elias Merhige’s 2000 film Shadow of the Vampire, which tells a fictionalised account of the making of the F.W. Murnau silent original.
Bill Skarsgård (Barbarian), Lily Rose-Depp (Silent Night), and Nicholas Hoult (The Menu) are all confirmed for Eggers’ film, with Skarsgård reportedly playing Count Orlok. Eggers wrote the script and will direct.
According to Deadline: “In the new reimagining, the pic is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman (Depp) in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire (Skarsgård) who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him.”
Dafoe’s role in the new film is currently unknown.
