Will Beale most recently wrote the script for James Wan’s Aquaman, so it makes sense for him to transfer his watery writing skills to Universal’s revival of The Creature from the Black Lagoon. The 1954 monster classic saw a group of scientists try to capture a prehistoric beast that lurked in the Amazonian Jungle. The story for Universal’s reboot is unknown at the moment, but we’re imagining it to be taking a similar route.
Universal’s first monster reboot is coming out this June with The Mummy, starring Sofia Boutella in the title role, Tom Cruise, Annabelle Wallis and Russell Crowe as Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde. The trailers for The Mummy look pretty average, but we’re still intrigued to see how Universal tackle their monster universe.
The Invisible Man, The Wolf Man, Bride of Frankenstein and Van Helsing all have film re-imaginings on the way, so The Mummy is the first in a long line of planned reboots.
