Ever since the success of Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement’s comedy masterclass What We Do in the Shadows, we’ve been given word on various sequels and spinoffs. While we continue to await news on We’re Wolves – the promised spinoff following Rhys Darby’s Anton and his band of werewolves – and Wellington Paranormal – a series following the film’s bumbling police officers – FX has ordered a full series set in the world of the film and sharing its title.
What We Do in the Shadows will be a half-hour series comprising 10 episodes, with the pilot written by Clement and directed by Waititi. It will focus on a new set of vampires, played by some British comedy favourites. Variety reported the following:
“Set in New York City, the series follows three vampires who have been roommates for hundreds and hundreds of years. It will star Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, and Harvey Guillen.”
Clement and Waititi will executive produce, with Paul Simms, Scott Rudin, Eli Bush and Garrett Basch. FX are looking to premiere the series in Spring 2019.
