“WELCOME TO DERRY” CAST CONTINUES TO EXPAND AS FORMER VINE STAR RUDY MANCUSO JOINS IN “KEY” ROLE

Posted on: July 13th, 2024

HBO and Max are coming at us thick and fast with info on the It prequel series Welcome to Derry.

Just last week we reported that the show had been upgraded from a streaming original, and will air concurrently on HBO and Max. At the same time, we learned that the cast had grown considerably, with new additions including two alumni from the Saw universe.

Now we have yet another casting update, as internet personality Rudy Mancuso joins the cast in a “key” recurring role.

Mancuso is arguably best known for his presence on the video-skit app Vine, which saw him garner a considerable following between 2013 and 2017.

Subsequently, Mancuso parlayed the attention given to his comic timing and impressive acting into a performing career. Most recently, he was seen in the role of Albert Desmond in 2023’s The Flash, however, Welcome to Derry will mark his most sizeable role to date.

The announcement that Bill Skarsgard will reprise his role as Pennywise in the upcoming prequel has seemingly set off an unstoppable wave of updates.

Currently filming in Alberta, Canada, HBO describe Welcome to Derry as follows:
“The series will begin in the 1960s in the time leading up to the events of It: Part One, the 2017 film based on the Stephen King horror novel. The story is also said to include the origin story of Pennywise the Clown.”

It director Andy Muschietti will return to produce, alongside his wife Barbara, with a cast set to include James Remar, Taylour Paige, Chris Chalk, Kimberly Gurrerro, and Alixandra Fuchs.

Welcome to Derry is expected to arrive in 2025, however, an exact date remains unknown.
