Universal Pictures, Jordan Peele (Get Out), and Issa Rae (creator of Insecure) are teaming up to create a genre film called Sinkhole, based on the Leyna Krow’s short story of the same name.
The story, which explores questions of female perfection and identity, follows a young family that moves into a house that would otherwise be their dream home, except for the sinkhole in the backyard. The mysterious sinkhole manages to fix broken and destroyed things—but what if that thing is a person?
Rae will potentially star in the adaptation and will also produce with Universal and Peele’s Monkeypaw. Other producers include Peele, Win Rosenfield, Montrel McKay, and Sara Rastogi.
