Turbo Kid was one of our favourite films of 2015, so we’re very excited to learn that the film’s directors, Francois Simard, Anouk Whissell and Yoann-Karl Whisse are to helm another horror-thriller.
Titled Summer of ’84, the film will follow a 15-year old conspiracy theorist who suspects a local police officer of being a serial killer. The story has been written by Matt Leslie and Stephen J. Smith. When speaking about the film, Smith said, “Summer Of ‘84 taps into the curiosity we all had as kids about what goes on behind closed doors.”
It sounds like a combination of Rear Window, The Good Neighbor and the recent indie hit I Am Not a Serial Killer, but with Roadkill Superstar behind the project we can imagine it’s going to have a very unique identity, as well as a healthy dose of nostalgic nods to the past.
Summer of ’84 will go into production this year, with the intention to release at the end of 2017.
