Train to Busan Rides to America for a Remake

Posted on: December 9th, 2016

*Sigh*. The inevitable has happened. Train to Busan is getting the English language remake treatment. It’s really no surprise, because the film has become one of the most widely praised films of the year. The rights to the remake have been picked up by Gaumont, with plans to bring the story to America. There is no word on directors or cast yet, but it will be interesting to see who is given the daunting task of re-imagining this perfect zombie film.

The original film backers, Next Entertainment World, stated:
“We are more than happy to start our business with Gaumont, one of the greatest film companies with rich experience in terms of global projects. We hope this opportunity could let Korean films get more attention and be familiar with the audience all over the world”.

train-to-busan-posterOriginally hailing from Korea, Train to Busan follows a zombie outbreak that escalates while a father travels with his young daughter on a train to… yep, Busan. It’s packed full of some of the most exciting scenes cinema has to offer and has a healthy dose of emotive storytelling in there, too. It’s one of our favourite horror films of the year and you can read our 5-star review right here.

Train to Busan will be out on DVD and Blu-ray on 27th February.
