“Today’s the day…”
Blumhouse have always had a knack for unleashing sinister entities upon the world. First there was the Lipstick Demon from Insidious, then the terrifying Mr. Boogie of Sinister.
Now, Blumhouse have teased a brand-new sinister figure with the trailer for Jaume Collet-Serra’s The Woman in the Yard.
Set to an eerie nursery rhyme, the clip gives very little away, but is undeniably unsettling and intriguing.
In the trailer, a seemingly normal family’s lives are upended when a mysterious woman in black appears on their front lawn. They don’t know why she’s there; they don’t know where she came from… And most alarming of all, she refuses to leave. Issuing only some thinly veiled threats, a few quick cuts let us know that some trying times are in store for the family. However, is their mysterious visitor behind it?
Starring Danielle Deadwyler, Okwui Okpokwasili, Russell Hornsby, Peyton Jackson, and Estella Kahiha, The Woman in the Yard comes to us from a script by Sam Stefanak. The project marks director Collet-Serra’s fourth genre film, following 2005’s House of Wax, 2009’s Orphan, and 2016’s The Shallows.
The film is set to land in theatres on March 28th 2024, courtesy of Universal Pictures.
