“There’s a murderer on the loose and you took us into the woods?!”
What do you get when you cross Back to the Future with Happy Death Day? Well, you get Totally Killer, of course!
Once again Blumhouse appears to have produced a horror-comedy that’ll go down as one of the best.
Totally Killer focuses on Jamie, a teen feeling smothered by her overprotective mother. To justify her over-protection, her mother uses her terrifying past as an excuse. Back in 1987, her mother was the sole survivor of the Sweet Sixteen Killer, who butchered her entire friend group. In frustration, Jamie finds a way to travel back to ’87, seeking to team up with her mother and change the future forever.
Seeming like the perfect mix of Happy Death Day, Back to the Future and The Final Girls, Totally Killer looks to up the period campness and the foul language for an R-rated time travel caper that would feel right at home during the 80’s slasher boom.
With a cast including Kierman Shipka, Julie Bowen and Scream VI star Liana Liberto, Blumhouse continues their trend of mixing established stars with the best up and coming talent.
What do you think? Could the Sweet Sixteen Killer become the newest slasher icon? Will Totally Killer be the beginning of a long franchise for Blumhouse and Amazon? The trailer certainly promises hijinks full of franchise potential! Totally Killer will be available to stream via Amazon Prime on October 6th.
