The juice is about to be loosed… again.
Although it was 35 years in the making, 2024’s Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice lived up to all the hype upon its August release.
Ultimately, Tim Burton’s legacy sequel topped the box-office for three consecutive weekends, grossing a total of $451 million worldwide.
During its successful run, director Tim Burton was quizzed on whether he’d consider a third Beetlejuice entry. His reply was… disheartening:
“Let’s do the math … it took 35 years to do this, so I’ll be over 100. But I guess it’s possible with science these days, but I don’t think so”
However, it seems the filmmaker may have changed his mind…
In a recent chat, Warner Bros. CEO Mike De Luca was quizzed on whether a third Beetlejuice film was in the works, and stated:
“Imminently. The ink might not be dry on the deals yet, but imminently.”
Furthermore, we’ve received confirmation from a trusted source that Burton is involved in “actively developing” the project.
The fact the project is in development has been greeted to much fanfare, even if very little has been given away.
Were the huge box-office numbers enough to make Burton re-think his position? Will we see any beloved cast members return for a third outing? Or will we be treated to a brand-new story? So many questions and such little info.
However, we will be watching closely and bring you any further Beetlejuice updates as we have them.
