There’s no stopping Maxine Minx… Or Ti West for that matter. After the tremendous success of West’s X trilogy, consisting of 2022’s X and Pearl, and 2024’s MaXXXine, the universe is now set to expand.
A24 have announced that they will be releasing each movie as a tie-in paperback novel, as a loving tribute to the 1980s.
In decades past, it was quite common for big-screen works to receive a paperback novel tie-in, often expanding on character motivations or series lore. To that end, that’s exactly what A24 have promised us here, along with some of-the-period cover artwork, which is simply beautiful.
The art of the movie novelisation had been dormant for many years, until Blumhouse picked up the trend with their Halloween sequel trilogy. It seems fitting then, that prolific author Tim Waggoner has been selected by A24 to adapt West’s trilogy to print, as Waggoner also adapted 2021’s Halloween Kills.
This news comes as West teased a fourth chapter in his iconic X universe, following the success of MaXXXine this past July. The films have garnered critical praise for their outstanding lead performances by Mia Goth, and their impeccable attention to period detail.
So, what more will we find out about Maxine or Pearl in these upcoming adaptions? You can find out on September 24th with the release of X, Pearl will follow November 19th. MaXXXine is expected to hit print sometime in early 2025.
