If you’re unfamiliar with Yorgos Lanthimos’ work, then let us introduce you to one striking film-maker. Hailing from Greece, Lanthimos is the director of My Best Friend, Dogtooth and 2015’s quirky anti-romance The Lobster.
Lanthimos will be re-teaming with The Lobster’s Colin Farrell for his next and possibly darkest endeavour, The Killing of a Sacred Deer. As with all of his work, this looks like an unsettling and original piece of cinema that will be impossible to describe.
Synopsis:
A teenager’s attempts to bring a brilliant surgeon into his dysfunctional family take an unexpected turn.
Check out the trailer below, which touches on the film’s eerie sense of horror and mystery, all set to a chilling rendition of Ellie Goulding’s Burn.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer additionally stars Nicole Kidman, Alicia Silverstone and Barry Keoghan. The film recently screened at the Cannes Film Festival to overwhelmingly positive reviews, so this is one that should be high on your watch list for its release on 3rd November in the USA and 17th November in the UK.
