The buzz is back…
As hard as it is to believe, October 11th 2024 will mark 50 years since Tobe Hooper’s classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was first released.
Telling the tale of a group of teens that unwittingly stumble into the clutches of a cannibalistic family, the film shocked audiences with its gritty portrayal of terror. Not only did the film set off a blaze of controversy, but it also created an icon in villain Leatherface. Now, after 8 additional movies and various other media ventures, it’s hard to imagine the horror landscape without Hooper’s seminal film.
So, to mark the movie’s 50th anniversary, Dark Sky Films are bringing this classic back to the big screen.
Throughout the month of October, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre will return to theatres, with a newly upgraded 4K transfer.
This anniversary roll out will mark the first time since 1999 that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has been subject to a wide theatrical release. Over the month of October, the film is expected to play in hundreds of theatres across the US and Europe.
If you want to know if Leatherface and his kin will be hitting a screen near you, check your local listings beginning Tuesday October 1st. The anniversary engagement is expected to run until Thursday October 31st.
