It’s very safe to say that we’re all very unsafe in our own homes again… Because The Strangers are powering back to terrify us once more.
We reported just a few weeks ago that Renny Harlin’s The Strangers: Part One would premiere October 12th at 3pm as part of New York Comic-Con. Whilst we’re not there yet, we have our first look at the film in some newly released stills.
Two images introduce us to some of our new cast members in Froy Gutierrez and Madelaine Petsch, the final still gives us our first look at the titular villains. Interestingly, the image only reveals two “strangers” instead of three, and we have some beautifully updated masks that remain reminiscent of their iconic looks.
Although The Strangers: Part One still doesn’t have a release date, the release of the first-look stills was accompanied by some new words from director Renny Harlin. The filmmaker dives into what to expect following Part One, with Lionsgate powering ahead with their trilogy plans, with Harlin attached to all three. Whilst Part One will follow similar beats as the previous two entries, the sequels will explore knew territory, as per Harlin:
“[the sequels] explore what happens to the victims of this kind of violence and who the perpetrators are of this kind of violence. Where are they coming from and why?”
The Strangers: Part One will follow young couple Ryan and Maya as the travel cross-country. Their trip is upended by a stay at an Oregon AirB’n’B as they are terrorized by masked intruders.
Starring alongside Gutierrez and Petsch are Rachel Shelton and Gabriel Basso in undisclosed roles. As previously stated, The Strangers: Part One is currently without a release date, but is expected in spring or summer 2024. We will report a solid release date as soon as one emerges.
