We’ve heard very little in regards to Renny Harlin’s The Strangers reboot since New York Comic-Con.
There, Harlin unveiled a teaser poster for The Strangers: Chapter One alongside a clip, as well as revealing that three films had been filmed.
Since then, there have been whispers of a scattered release plan throughout 2024, with one entry in the trilogy being released every 3 months.
If so, this would certainly be an ambitious plan from Lionsgate, unlike anything we’ve seen.
Now, we’re hearing from a reliable source that the plan might be about to be set in motion. According to reports, Lionsgate is looking towards February 2024 to release The Strangers: Chapter One.
This would give Lionsgate quite the advantage if they choose to press ahead with this plan. February is currently looking very sparse when it comes to horror hitting the big screen, and The Strangers could have the potential to draw a large audience, should the promotion be handled well.
The Strangers: Chapter One will follow a young couple stranded in rural Oregon and beset by a gang of masked intruders. According to Harlin, the upcoming sequels will focus more on the trauma left behind after such an incident and explore why perpetrators commit such acts.
We will watch this one closely and report any solid updates. However, February might be a time for us to lock our doors… just to be safe.
