We have less than a month before The Strangers come knocking once again… And we have some news regarding a sequel.

As we’ve reported consistently over the past year, The Strangers: Chapter One is set to be the first in a trilogy of films for the titular trio. However, what often hasn’t been reported clearly by many outlets is that all three instalments are ready to go.

An entire prequel trilogy from director Renny Harlin was complete long before Chapter One was even officially announced. Thanks to sources close to the production, we’d known this for quite some time, but were never sure how Lionsgate planned to handle the release.

Now, we have confirmation via Cinema-Con that the studio is going with an ambitious release plan that will see all three films release just months apart. Following Chapter One’s May 17th release, Chapter Two will reportedly debut just months later, in September or October 2024.

Whilst there is no word on when we’ll see the final chapter, a Christmas or early 2025 release is likely.

Something like this hasn’t been attempted by a major studio in quite some time, and we can’t help but wonder… how successful will this be? Even if Chapter One goes over well, releasing two more films so close together runs the risk of franchise fatigue rapidly setting in.

An ambitious plan from Lionsgate to say the least, the sequels are set to “blaze a new trail” for The Strangers franchise, according to Harlin.

The Strangers: Chapter One will debut on May 17th 2024, and stars Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez. We’re curious, but very cautious to see how this close-together trilogy plan will pan out.
