We are less than a month away from the release of The Nun II and the eagerly anticipated return of Valak!
So, what better time than now for the movie’s official rating to drop? The Conjuring Universe continues their streak of R-rated supernatural hijinks with this one, as The Nun II is said to contain “terror, violence, and disturbing and bloody images,” as per the MPAA.
This will no doubt whet the appetites of long-time series fans, most of whom find The Conjuring Universe’s appeal to be that it doesn’t skimp on the brutality. Historically, the paranormal sub-genre stays within the PG-13 bracket, however, The Conjuring movies and their respective spin-offs have largely sought to shatter this expectation.
The Nun II is set to follow Taissa Farmiga’s Sister Irene as she is drawn to a French boarding school to once again do battle with the demonic nun Valak.
Also returning alongside Farmiga are Bonnie Aarons as the titular character and Jonas Bloquet as “Frenchie” Theriault. The Last of Us actress Storm Reid and Katelyn Rose Downey also star.
With 2017’s The Nun becoming the highest grossing entry in this Universe, with $365 million globally, expectations for this sequel are high.
Will Valak once again scare up some out-of-this-world numbers? Only time will tell.
The Nun II will release on September 8th 2023, and you can check out the trailer below in case you missed it:
