“Are you looking for Regan? She burns in hell!”
With a little less than a month until it’s release, David Gordon Green’s legacy sequel The Exorcist: Believer has delighted fans with a new trailer.
Beginning with Ellen Burstyn’s Chris MacNeil entering a bedroom and facing off against a possessed child, the clip hints at old scores to settle, as Burstyn is taunted about her daughter’s whereabouts.
As the clip proceeds, we get a genuine sense of family, community, and the importance of spirituality in the lives of our new characters. This just proves to make things even more shocking when our two young leads fall under the spell of demonic possession.
With more nods to the 1973 original than the previous trailer, this most recent clip even promises some of that infamous pea soup vomit. This is among a plethora of stunning make-up effects glimpsed in the trailer, courtesy of Oscar winner Christopher Nelson and his team.
Ending with the sinister line “One girl lives, one girl dies, you get to choose…” The Exorcist: Believer looks to have a lot in its corner, including impressive effects, gorgeous cinematography, and great performances. We only hope this translates onto the big screen and the final product is a hit.
Originally slated for an October 13th release, the beginning of September saw Believer move forward one week to October 6th 2023 to avoid clashing with Taylor Swift’s Eras concert film. So, heads will spin just a little earlier than expected, but that just means less time to wait for this highly anticipated movie. Will you be there?
