IFC Films have dropped a creepy trailer for The Djinn that proves you should be careful what you wish for…
Written and directed by David Charbonier and Justin Powell (The Boy Behind the Door), the film follows Dylan Jacobs (Ezra Dewey), a mute 12-year-old boy who discovers a mysterious book of spells in his apartment. Still grieving the loss of his mother and feeling isolated from everyone except his father, Dylan performs a ritual promising to deliver his heart’s desire: to have a voice. But he soon discovers that every gift has a toll when a sinister djinn arrives to collect his soul. Now trapped in his new home with nowhere to hide, Dylan must find a way to survive until the stroke of midnight—or pay the ultimate price.
Rob Brownstein (Velvet Buzzsaw) and Tevy Poe (Redwood Massacre: Annihilation) also star in the film, which is set to release in theatres, On Demand, and on digital on May 14th. Make a wish—or, on second thoughts, just check out the trailer below.
