The 90s were admittedly not the best era for horror films, but there were a few gems and 1996 supernatural horror film The Craft was one of them. The witchcraft wannabe film is another to get a remake with Leigh Janiak directing and writing.
Leigh Janiak directed the eerie and unromantic horror Honeymoon and Sony have snapped her up to bring her fresh directing style to the remake. The Craft was set to be remade in 2006, but fell through in 2009.
After newcomer Sarah joins a Los Angeles Catholic prep high school, she falls into a dangerous circle of misfit outsiders that are obsessed with being witches. They practice witchcraft, and begin to delve deeper and darker as they place spells and curses on those who they dislike.
Doug Wick, who was an original producer of The Craft, is back to produce the film alongside Lucy Fisher.
