In a week where The Conjuring Universe made horror history, perhaps there’s no better time for an update on the television spin-off that’s long been in development.
The series has been in development since 2023, and was considered in “development hell,” despite studio assurances things were moving along.
Now, on the heels of The Conjuring: Last Rites reaping huge box-office rewards, the TV series has roared back to life.
According to reliable sources, writer and producer Nancy Won will serve as showrunner. Over her three decades in the business, Won has worked on the likes of Supernatural and Everwood. However, she is likely best known for producing the critically acclaimed limited series Little Fires Everywhere in 2020.
We’re also hearing that The Conjuring’s TV spin-off has bagged itself some writing talent, in the form of Peter Cameron and Cameron Squires.
Cameron has lent his writing talents to hit shows like Moon Knight, Agatha All Along, and Carnival Row. Squires is likely best known for scripting episodes of WandaVision, Final Space, and Agent Elvis.
When asked to comment on the latest developments with the TV spin-off, Warner Bros. Television and HBO Max remained silent.
However, it seems like everything The Conjuring related is now moving full steam ahead, meaning we’ll likely have more updates on this show very soon.
