In a huge coup for low-budget filmmakers the world over, it was announced last week that Damien Leone’s recently revealed Terrifier 3 will be given a wide theatrical release, following the monstrous success of the previous entries.
Telling of the Halloween night rampages of Art the Clown, Terrifier has created an instantly iconic villain amongst slasher cinema fans, and has carved a reputation as one of the goriest series out there.
Following the limited theatrical release of 2022’s Terrifier 2 bringing in an impressive $15 million on a budget of just $250,000, it has now been announced that the third instalment will be honoured with a wide theatrical release, following its acquisition at Cannes.
Expected to go before the cameras this December, Terrifier 3 has secured an October 2024 release date and will be distributed in a joint venture between The Coven, Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting.
With an increased budget and promises of gore even more extreme than previously seen, this may just be something the likes of which horror fans have never witnessed on the big screen before.
Aside from the announcement that legacy cast members David Howard Thornton and Lauren LaVera will return, precious little is currently known about Terrifier 3, but we will be on the lookout for updates.
Are you excited to see Art slash across America? Will this launch him into the heavyweight leagues alongside Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers? Only time will tell.
