Recently we reported that Saw X had crossed that all-important $100 million mark at the worldwide box-office.
In that same article we speculated that this may just guarantee an eleventh film in the franchise, but also wondered where that could possibly go.
Now, it seems we have somewhat of an answer from Saw X actress Synnøve Macody Lund. Lund appears in Saw X as Dr Cassandra Pederson, offering a life-saving cancer treatment to Tobin Bell’s John Kramer. Unfortunately, Pederson and her entire operation is a scam, prompting Kramer to enact brutal revenge under his Jigsaw persona.
Spoilers ahead for Saw X…
Many fans lauded Lund’s multi-sided portrayal of witch doctor Cassandra Pederson, praising her ability to be both caring and a cold-hearted bitch. It was also quite the shock that she is one of the few Jigsaw victims to survive a Saw movie, with Kramer and Amanda Young leaving her alive at the film’s conclusion. Of course, this led to endless speculation that Lund may return.
In exciting news for fans, Lund appeared to confirm this theory as she recorded an audio commentary on Saw X with director Kevin Greutert. Whilst only a passing comment, Lund stated she “is excited to see what you (Greutert) have in store for me.”
This not only suggests plans for a Saw XI are in place, but also that Lund’s Cassandra Pederson will return. This presents several more questions about a possible Saw XI, chiefly will it be another prequel? Saw X sets its events between the first and second films, set during a time frame audiences hadn’t yet seen, thus making them possible. Is it also possible there is more we haven’t seen?
Undoubtedly a great hint for Saw fans, and perhaps little surprise given Saw X’s reception and box-office haul, it seems a sequel is on the cards.
We will keep an eye out for any further word on a potential Saw XI.
