Syfy has ordered a 10-episode series based on Day of the Dead, George A. Romero’s classic 1985 zombie movie.
In the original film, a group of military officers and scientists hunkered down in an underground bunker after the zombie apocalypse. Syfy’s series will take a different direction, following six strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours after the outbreak.
Day of the Dead comes from Cartel Entertainment and will be written and showrun by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas. The series is expected to air on Syfy in 2021.
