Studio 8 Move Forward with the Remake of Nosferatu

Posted on: August 1st, 2015

After months of trying to tie down the rights, Jeff Robinov’s Studio 8 are moving forward with their planned remake of horror classic Nosferatu directed by the recently grave-robbed F.W. Murnau. John Eggers, director of The Witch, is on-board to write and direct the remake, which is currently untitled.

There has been bombardment of horror remakes lately and they are showing no sign of slowing down. Just like the never-ending onslaught of superhero movies, we should always know that the next horror reimagining is not too far away. Undeniably, it is going to be impossible for a remake of Nosferatu to capture what made the 1922 original so wonderful; Max Schreck was flawless as Graf Orlok and no one would be able to mimic his terrifying, monstrous performance. It is a film of its time and perfect for that reason, but I am intrigued to see what Eggers can do and you should be, too.
