Sony is Developing a Feature Film Based on Slender Man

Posted on: May 5th, 2016

According to Comicbook.com, Sony’s Screen Gems is developing a feature film based on the terrifying internet meme Slender Man. This comes soon after HBO’s documentary Beware The Slenderman which focuses on the Slender Man stabbing in 2014. The tragic incident saw two 12-year old girls lure another girl in to the woods and stab her in the hope of pleasing and proving their loyalty to the fictional Slender Man. It’s a miracle that the girl did not die, because luckily, she managed to survive after a cyclist found her lying on a pavement.

It’s unsure what direction the film from Screen Gems will take, but there is a script from David Birke all ready for the taking. Birke has written films such as Freeway Killer and 13 Sins, so he has his foot solidly in the horror genre. It would be great to see a truly terrifying take on the character, because Slender Man is such an easy creation to be scared of; he looks absolutely frightening and he stands outside your damn window. It’s freaky.

More as it comes!
