Sony Pictures International and Amazon Prime Video are teaming up with Spanish director Álex de la Iglesia (Witching and Bitching) to create a new horror feature film anthology called The Fear Collection.
Under the multi-picture deal, De la Iglesia will produce and/or direct films in the Collection, which will initially be released theatrically by Sony Pictures Entertainment Iberia before arriving on Amazon Prime in Spain. Sony Pictures International Productions will control distribution rights for the films outside of Spain.
According to De la Iglesia, this project will see characters facing off against supernatural threats in the grand tradition of cosmic horror. The goal is to produce two films a year, working with directors and writers who love the genre.
Several projects for The Fear Collection are currently in development, including a collaboration between De la Iglesia and his long-time co-writer Jorge Guerricaechevarría. Jaume Balagueró [REC], Fernando Navarro (Verónica), Paula Ortiz, and Carlos Therón are also involved in various projects.
