Saturday Night Live creator and prolific comedy producer Lorne Michaels (pictured right) has signed on to produce the 1980s-set horror comedy Ghost Bros for Paramount, under his Broadway Video banner. The film is being scripted by writing partners Josh Bycel and Jonathan Fener, who have worked together on a number of TV comedies including Happy Endings and American Dad!.
Set in the ’80s, the comedy centres on frat brothers that die in a fraternity house and end up staying around to haunt the house’s present-day residents.
While reportedly inspired by the success of the Bad Neighbours (or just Neighbors in the States) films, Ghost Bros looks to be taking cues from ‘80s spook comedies like House and Ghostbusters as well as that era’s campus comedies. With the Ghostbusters reboot on the horizon, Ghost Bros could be very well timed indeed.
No cast members have been announced, but Michaels no doubt has a wealth of popular comedy talent to call upon. Similarly, a director has yet to emerge.
