Last week we reported that Smile’s Parker Finn was busy crafting a sequel to 2022’s biggest horror hit, due in 2024. Now the director has even more to “smile” about as he has announced the formation of his very own production company.
Based at Paramount Pictures and part of the exclusive deal Finn signed with the studio, Bad Feeling will see Finn aiding Paramount in their quest to embrace horror further.
The banner is set to be genre specific and has been described as “planning to shepherd distinct, high-end genre fare for audiences craving bold, boundary-pushing experiences. The goal is to event-ize the unusual while bringing a bespoke, craft-centric approach to commercial genre storytelling.”
The deal sees Finn reunite with his former long-time collaborator Jonathan Fass, who produced Laura Hasn’t Slept, the basis for 2022’s Smile. Fass will serve as Head of Development at Bad Feeling, finally fulfilling he and Finn’s shared dream of heading their own genre-specific label.
Of working with his friend once more, Finn said the following:
“Jonathan has impeccable taste and a razor-sharp approach to genre storytelling, and I am beyond excited to be launching Bad Feeling together”
Fass echoed similar sentiments when discussing his appointment and working with Finn:
“Parker has been a collaborator and a friend for many years, and I could not be more thrilled to be partnering with him to build Bad Feeling into a premier home for fearless modern genre filmmakers.”
Smile 2 is expected to hit theatres October 18th 2024, and will likely be one of the first projects under the Bad Feeling banner. Congratulations to Parker and Jonathan, may they continue prospering in such terrifying ways.
