A pretty sweet and sinister teaser for Robert Kirkman’s (The Walking Dead) next TV series Outcast has been unleashed and we love it. It’s fully equipped with a suitable air of mystery, as well as a genuinely unsettling atmosphere that has definitely got us excited for when the show airs this summer.
Synopsis:
Outcast’ follows Kyle Barnes (Fugit), a young man who has been plagued by demonic possession all his life. Now, with the help of the Reverend Anderson, a preacher with personal demons of his own, Kyle embarks on a journey to find answers and regain the normal life he lost. But what Kyle discovers could change his fate — and the fate of the world — forever.
Starring Patrick Fugit as the protagonist alongside Philip Glenister as Reverend Anderson, Outcast is an exorcism drama based on a comic by Kirkman and Paul Azaceta. Adam Wingard (The Guest, You’re Next) has directed the first episode of the show and when speaking in an interview with IndieWire he said, “Essentially it’s an exorcism story, but in true Kirkman fashion, he’s created a universe where it’s partially familiar but a totally new take on it. There’s lot of surprises, so I guess the best summary is it’s a new kind of possession story.” Bringing something new to the possession and exorcism genre is almost necessary, because The Exorcist will always threaten as the elephant in the room if you tread too heavily on familiar territory.
We love what we’ve seen of the show so far and we hope you do, too. Be sure to tune in when Outcast has its premiere later this year.
