Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are dipping their toes in the genre pool once more as they have been cast in the horror-comedy TV show Truth Seekers. The series will consist of 10 30-minute episodes that follow a three-person paranormal investigation team. In each episode the team will investigate a different haunting or monster and as Pegg says:
“It’ll start as a very parochial idea, a very small business venture for these people, but it will expand as the series goes on to be something far more global. It’s a language everyone understands, the mystery of the unknown. Shaun of the Dead was a very parochial story set in North London, and somehow it managed to get this global reach because everyone understands the language of zombie movies”.
Pegg and Frost are also teaming for a horror-comedy series Slaughterhouse Rulez. Slaughterhouse is a place where boys are girls are groomed for power and greatness, but they’re about to meet their match. The story’s hero, Don Wallace, is a wide-eyed new boy from a modest background forced to navigate a baffling new world of arcane rules and rituals, presided by sadistic sixth formers. Matters of status are aggressively enforced and conversation with school goddess Clemsie, are strictly forbidden.
It’s a couple of very exciting projects for the Cornetto Trilogy boys and we’re excited to see the pair collaborating at least twice more. Both of these shows will be released under Pegg and Frost’s Stolen Picture production banner.
