Ahead of its international premiere at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival, Canadian horror-thriller Violation has been acquired by Shudder.
The film, which world premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, was co-written and co-directed by Dusty Mancinelli and Madeleine Sims-Fewer, the latter of whom also stars. Described as a “turbulent feminist revenge fable that explores the idea of trauma within families and untangles a sticky web of resentment,” the plot follows a troubled woman on the edge of divorce who embarks on a vicious crusade when her sister and brother-in-law betray her trust.
“Violation is a fearless, unconventional revenge story, from which you cannot emerge unmoved,” Craig Engler, Shudder’s General Manager, said in a statement. The horror streaming platform plans to release the film in 2021.
