After just one season, Showtime has cancelled Penny Dreadful spin-off series City of Angels.
Set in Los Angeles in 1938, the series explored a grisly murder that shocked the city, embroiling Detective Tiago Vega (Daniel Zovatto) and his partner Lewis Michener (Nathan Lane) in an epic story reflecting LA’s troubled history. The cast also included Natalie Dormer, Kerry Bishé, Adriana Barraza, Jessica Garza, Michael Gladis, Jonathan Nieves, Rory Kinnear, and Dominic Sherwood.
In a statement, Showtime thanked executive producers John Logan, Michael Aguilar, and the entire cast and crew for their work on the project. The original Penny Dreadful series ran for three seasons.
