Filming has wrapped on Legendary Entertainment’s remake of the 1984 Troma classic The Toxic Avenger.
The remake comes to us from writer-director Macon Blair (I Don’t Feel At Home in This World Anymore), who announced the news on Twitter. Kevin Bacon (Tremors), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Elijah Wood (Come to Daddy), Julia Davis (Phantom Thread), Taylour Paige (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), and Jacob Tremblay (Doctor Sleep) star.
In The Toxic Avenger, a meek towel boy transforms into a powerful superhero after getting dumped into a vat of toxic waste. Deadline previously described this remake as a “contemporary re-imagining” and noted that the film “is steeped in environmental themes and subverts the superhero genre in the vein of Deadpool.” Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, the original film’s directors, serve as producers.
