An array of Disney Channel stars have joined the cast of an upcoming LGBTQ+ horror-thriller called Howdy, Neighbor! The film, which will be directed by Allisyn Snyder (Astrid Clover), is set to star Matthew Scott Montgomery (So Random!), who also wrote the script, as well as Debby Ryan (The Suite Life of Zack & Cody), Alyson Stoner (Camp Rock), Kevin Chamberlin (Jessie), Shayne Topp (So Random!), Tim Bagley (Shake It Up!), and Damien Haas (So Random!).
Howdy, Neighbor! will utilise the “screenlife” format popularised by horror films like Host and Unfriended (pictured above), where all of the action takes place via a computer screen. According to Variety, “Montgomery stars as Benjamin, a young queer millennial actor living in West Hollywood who was once a famous child actor. When a new neighbour Chase (Grant Jordan) moves across the hall and reveals himself as a fan, Benjamin begins investigating the oddly familiar man with his best friend Harley (Ryan).”
Beyond former Disney Channel stars, the supporting cast for Howdy, Neighbor! also includes Sterling Sulieman (I Know What you Did Last Summer), Adam Faison (Everything’s Gonna Be Okay), Greer Grammer (Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman), and Kimmy Shields (Big Little Lies). Production is expected to begin later this month.
