Another week, another update on the seemingly endless Scream VII cycle. However, this one comes from an unlikely, but very official source.
Last we reported, franchise star Neve Campbell floated the possibility of a return to some official outlets. This was the first positive news regarding the project in many weeks, as the production is appearing to struggle in the wake of both main stars exiting.
Now, we have something slightly more concrete from a source that needs to be in the know on everything Scream related… Fun World.
For those that don’t know, Fun World is the company that produced the original Ghostface mask. Scouted by Wes Craven in 1996, the licensing deal and subsequent success of the Scream franchise turn the small company into a juggernaut.
Obviously, the company needs to be kept abreast of developments in the franchise to continue their licensing deal and the production of any new tie-in products.
This past week, Fun World revealed their 2024 slate, and whilst there were no new products, something about the display grabbed our attention.
Whilst most may be drawn to Chromeface, Aged Ghostface, or Pride Ghostface, it was the banner above the display that we were looking at.
Proclaiming “Ghostface will return in Scream VII… 2025,” we found that very interesting. Do we have our first hint that the behind-the-scenes issues are being resolved. Is Scream VII about to press ahead?
If so, what will the film be about? Who will be attached? Rumours continue to swirl around fired star Melissa Barrera negotiating a return, but remain unconfirmed.
A source tells us an announcement may drop in February, so, we’ll keep our eyes peeled.
