After the mammoth success of Scream VI, one would expect the announcement of a sequel to come very quickly afterward. However, Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media have been playing it very cool in regards to any mention of a follow-up.
That all may be about to change…
Although word filtered through that production on a sequel was “unlikely” until 2024 due to the cast and crew having other commitments, it seems Paramount and Spyglass want to assure the world that more is coming. Sources are now claiming they will drop the first of many breadcrumbs in July, coinciding with the blu-ray release of Scream VI.
What might this be, I hear you ask? Insiders say that it may be the announcement that the “core four” have signed on to return for another movie. Initially it was reported that Paramount were “unlikely” to pursue a seventh Scream without Jenna Ortega, but now it seems scheduling kinks have been ironed out. The announcement is expected to confirm that Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, and Jasmine Savoy-Brown will reprise their roles for one more film.
Furthermore, industry whispers suggest that Paramount are “keen” to woo series star Neve Campbell back. Campbell was absent from the sixth instalment after a salary dispute, but it seems all involved are willing to come to a compromise.
We’ve had to search high and low for any titbit on another Scream movie, but it seems things are slowly beginning to move forward. We hope it all come together for the ultimate final showdown… But only time will tell!
