After the box office success of this year’s Scream, a sixth entry in the franchise is coming our way—and we won’t have too long to wait! Scream 6 is slated to release in theatres on March 31st, 2023.
Plot details remain under wraps, but we do know one thing about the new movie: Courteney Cox’s Gale Weathers will be returning. In a recent episode of the Just for Variety With Marc Malkin podcast, Cox confirmed, “I got the script yesterday. And I haven’t read it yet. I just got it, and I’m so used to getting, you know, Shining Vale [Cox’s new horror-comedy series] scripts, which are 26 pages, and I’m, ‘Whoah, I’ve got to read a script.’ I’m excited to read it.”
Scream 6 will also reunite Scream (2022) directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Franchise creator Kevin Williamson will once again executive produce alongside Radio Silence’s Chad Villella. Spyglass’s Gary Barber and Peter Oillataguerre are also executive producers on the project.
Filming on Scream 6 is expected to kick off in Canada this June. More news as we hear it.
