Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) is set to helm a film adaptation of Joe Hill’s short story Black Phone for Blumhouse and Universal.
Derrickson adapted the script with frequent collaborator Robert Cargill. Over on Twitter, Cargill noted that the plot would centre around “A kidnapped kid. A creepy, soundproofed basement. An ancient, disconnected phone. Then, when night falls, the phone rings.”
Mason Thames (For All Mankind) and Madeleine McGraw (Outcast) will star in the film, which is being executive produced by Hill. Derrickson, Cargill, and Jason Blum will produce.
