It’s long been said that you only know you’ve made it when someone parodies you.
Well, that appears to be coming true for Damien Leone’s Terrifier franchise.
The trilogy, known for its iconic villain Art the Clown, has become quite the cultural phenomenon. Following an intriguing first entry, 2022’s Terrifier 2 made an astonishing $16 million on a budget of $250,000. 2024’s Terrifier 3 only bolstered Art’s reputation as a horror icon, becoming the most successful unrated film in history.
So, it’s safe to say, Terrifier has become quite the modern classic in the genre. However, now, it’s about to get the ultimate honour.
A reliable source tells us that Terrifier and Art the Clown will be one of the main targets of satire in the upcoming Scary Movie 6.
Recently, the parody series reboot has been gaining serious steam; and now we appear to have our first official satire confirmed.
However, one can’t help but wonder, how can Art the Clown and Terrifier’s over-the-top gore, be made even funnier? The series already has quite a lot of humour, so it will be interesting to see just how the parody aspect pans out.
In November, we learned that creative trio the Wayans Brothers were returning to helm the sixth instalment. This would mark their first involvement in the Scary Movie franchise since 2001’s Scary Movie 2. With the announcement of their return also came the confirmation that Scary Movie 6 would act as a parody of legacy sequels. Marlon Wayans would confirm via social media that Scary Movie’s wildly successful “Ghostface” parody would return for a direct sequel.
Following this, Scary Movie actor Dave Sheridan also confirmed he would return as the beloved, but bumbling cop, Doofy Gilmore.
Scary Movie legacy stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall continue to circle Scary Movie 6, but are yet to be officially cast.
Scary Movie 6 will release on June 6th 2026, and we’ll be on the hunt for any further updates.
