We’re over half way to Halloween, and with a new Saw movie on the way, that would usually mean a trailer and promo galore by now. However, the upcoming Saw X has maintained a stony silence in recent months, leaving fans to wonder if the project has been delayed.
Fear not, friends! We finally have some official news coming from the Saw Twitter account, and it sounds quite tantalising.
The Midsummer Scream Convention has announced “The Saw Experience,” and will welcome cast and crew from the franchise for the first time. Hinting that this will not be a run-of-the-mill convention reunion, Midsummer Scream have promised the event ending with a panel that will include “a mind-bending glimpse” at the upcoming Saw X:
“One of the most iconic horror film series comes to Midsummer Scream for the first time ever this year, as Lionsgate brings SAW to the world’s biggest horror convention.
On the floor of the Long Beach Convention Center, an incredible SAW experience invites Midsummer Scream guests to explore the horrific, unnerving, and unforgettable world of the SAW movies. It’s open to guests all three days of the event.
And on Saturday, July 29, special guests who helped bring SAW to the screen will take part in a panel presentation that offers exclusive mind-bending glimpses into the upcoming film SAW X, coming to movie theaters this October from Lionsgate.”
The announcement was capped by our first official look at the Saw X logo, which leaked via CinemaCon back in April.
What does this mean? Fans are hopeful Lionsgate are going to drop the first trailer for the upcoming movie following this retrospective event, meaning we are just weeks from our first look at Jigsaw in over 6 years.
Saw X will see the return of series’ star Tobin Bell as serial killer John Kramer, as well as actress Shawnee Smith reprising her role as Amanda Young. Aside from this, we know precious little about the long-complete project. Now we’re sure that’s about to change… Let the games begin, we’ll let you know just what drops July 29th so, watch this space.
