She is undoubtedly a modern Scream Queen, and a huge fan of the genre. Now, actress Samara Weaving dropped some info that will undoubtedly delight fans.
Whilst promoting her latest project, the Australian actress let it be known that one of the things on her bucket list is to appear in a Nightmare on Elm Street movie.
When asked what horror franchise she’d like to delve into next, following her opening scene cameo in 2023’s Scream VI, Weaving responded:
“Nightmare on Elm Street! I can do it. Unless Billie Eilish gets it now.”
The final line being the actress joking that Eilish was the initial choice for Weaving’s part in her current movie Azrael.
Thanks to Weaving’s comments, many are now wondering if her interest could be enough to get the ball rolling on a new Nightmare instalment.
Shockingly, the series hasn’t seen any new entries in almost 24 years, the last being the tepidly received 2010 remake. The last we heard from the IP, the Estate of Wes Craven were said to be fielding pitches from studios and filmmakers.
However, that was quite some time ago… Series star Heather Langenkamp has been vocal about her keenness to reprise the role of Nancy Thompson, and we’re in a cinematic climate where nothing could be more en vogue than a legacy sequel right now.
So, could Weaving’s desire propel this series back to life? We certainly hope so!
