With Monster: The Ed Gein Story set to premiere in a few weeks, it seems work on the fourth season of Monster is progressing faster than anticipated.
We first reported that Murphy’s show would tackle the infamous Lizzie Borden case back in July. However, very few details were known at the time.
However, now, just in time for spooky season, we have an exciting update!
It has been confirmed that actress Ella Beatty will portray the lead role of Lizzie Borden. Beatty is the daughter of Hollywood stars Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, and previously worked with Ryan Murphy on Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans. Beatty will also make her feature film debut later this year in A24’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. Monster will mark Beatty’s first starring role.
Scream Queens and American Horror Story alum Billie Lourd has joined the cast of Monster, playing Lizzie Borden’s older sister Emma.
British actress Jessica Barden will undertake the role of Nance O’Neill, a real-life stage and screen actress who developed a close friendship with Lizzie Borden. According to an official character breakdown, O’Neill’s friendship with Borden is set to bring about a “deep rift” with her older sister Emma.
The cast line-up continues with Charlie Hunam set to play doomed patriarch Andrew Borden. Of course, Hunam is about to star in season three of Monster, portraying Ed Gein.
The Night House star Rebecca Hall will portray Abby Borden, Lizzie’s stepmother, who many claim was the object of her hatred.
Production on Monster: Lizzie Borden will begin next month in Los Angeles, with the show expected to premiere just in time for Halloween 2026.
