Monster, Ryan Murphy’s serial killer anthology series appears to be unstoppable.
Beginning with Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, the series captivated audiences with its unflinching portrayal of an infamous serial killer.
Following its enormous success, a second season was quickly announced. Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story courted some controversy, but was also wildly successful.
A third season, The Original Monster, is currently in production, and will tell the story of Ed Gein and stars Charlie Hunnam.
Now, without Series 3 even having a premiere date, we have confirmation that Ryan Murphy’s Monster will have a fourth season.
But what macabre tale will the television maestro adapt this time? Well, we’re awfully glad you asked.
According to reports, Monster will next tackle the infamous case of Lizzie Borden!
The classic true crime case is known the world over, detailing the 1892 axe murders of Sarah and Andrew Borden. Their youngest daughter Lizzie was widely suspected of the crime, but was acquitted after a lengthy trial.
Despite her acquittal, many still believed Borden responsible for the crime, which has never been officially solved. As the decades passed, the crime became ingrained in American pop culture, even birthing the macabre skipping rhyme “Lizzie Borden Took an Ax.”
Details on Monster season four are sparse, so we currently don’t know who will play the all-important title role. The part of Lizzie Borden has previously been portrayed on screen by actors such as Christina Ricci and Chloe Sevigny.
