Do we have a new Scream King in our midst?

Gladiator star Russell Crowe received excellent notices for his deranged turn in Unhinged, before becoming a God warrior in 2023’s surprise hit, The Pope’s Exorcist.

Now, it seems Crowe is eager to repeat his success with the latter, as he’s about to go theatrical with another exorcism tale.

Aptly titled The Exorcism, the project previously generated buzz when it was known as The Georgetown Project. In what is described as a “loving tribute” to 1973’s The Exorcist, the film is described as follows:

“The Exorcism follows Anthony Miller (Crowe), a troubled actor who begins to unravel while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter (Ryan Simpkins) wonders if he’s slipping back into his past addictions or if there’s something more sinister at play.”

Halloween III and Near Dark actor Joshua John Miller directs The Exorcism, with Kevin Williamson onboard producing. The film will see a theatrical release on June 7th via Vertical, and horror streaming service Shudder are to bring the film to demand sometime in the fall.

With two sequels alleged to be in the works to The Pope’s Exorcist, it’s safe to say we’re going to have plenty more Russell Crowe horror content headed our way.

Admittedly, we’re very curious to see how The Exorcism fares with audiences!
