Everything is very quiet on the Scream 7 front at the moment. Of course, we can’t blame Spyglass Media for keeping a low profile following all the controversy.
All we know for certain is that series star Neve Campbell will return as Sidney Prescott, and franchise creator Kevin Williamson will direct.
Everything else has come to us from some very trusted sources, and has yet to be confirmed.
It is another such whisper that we bring you today, as word reaches us that Scream 7 is allegedly set to ignore the events of 2023’s Scream VI.
To be clear, what we’re hearing is that the seventh film won’t say they never happened, but simply will not reference the sixth film.
This does make sense, if the rumour that the seventh entry will be set five years in the future is true. Time will have moved on, and Ghostface will likely have faded from people’s minds. It also acts as a way for the seventh film to distance itself from Sam and Tara Carpenter, instead focusing on the characters that have been put on the back burner.
To that end, our source also tells us that Scream 7 will act as a true legacy sequel, with Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox alleged to be “front and centre” as the proceedings unfold.
This will undoubtedly please fans, some of whom were rather underwhelmed with the usage of the characters in 2022’s Scream.
So far, this is all we have on Scream’s mysterious seventh entry. However, with the movie expected to begin shooting in September, we’ll likely have an official update soon.
